Art is the only thing I know that truly creates itself. It forces the hand of the artist. It commands, it begs. Its pain is your pain. Its world is infinite.

What I really mean by the term "artist" is that I am someone who does things. I spend most of the spring and summer outdoors, working in gardens cultivating vegetables and flowers. I build stonewalls, which for me is an art form in itself. I create things out of the few supplies on hand, like a globe out of whiskey barrel rungs. I try to make things beautiful and I try to find the greatest functional and aesthetic potential in everything.
